5 Signals a Lead Vendor is About to Blow Up Your CRM

Before you commit spend, look for these five patterns. They're the ones that predict a bad quarter with 90%+ accuracy across our marketplace.

We route 240,000 enquiries a month across our marketplace, which means we see a lot of lead vendors — good ones, bad ones, and the ones that look great in the pitch deck but implode 45 days in. Here are the five signals that predict the bad quarter with uncomfortable accuracy.

If you ask for the consent record for a specific lead — timestamp, IP, user-agent, page URL, exact copy the consumer saw — and the answer is anything other than "give me 30 seconds", walk away. This is table stakes in 2026. If they can't do it, they don't have it.

2. Their volume forecast doesn't include a source mix

Any vendor promising you 500 leads a week without telling you where they come from is either flying blind or hiding something. You need to see: percentage from Google (search vs display), percentage from Meta (paid vs organic), percentage from partner comparison sites, and percentage from any aggregators.

3. Their pricing model has "flexibility"

Fixed CPL with a documented QA process = healthy vendor. Flexible pricing that adjusts weekly based on "market conditions" = they're arbitraging you. Your budget will bleed inside 90 days.

4. No API — or a "coming soon" API

If they're delivering leads via CSV email or a Zapier webhook you built yourself, they're not built for enterprise volume. You need signed POST payloads to your own endpoint with retry-on-fail, replay endpoints, and per-source attribution. This is not a nice-to-have.

5. They can't name their compliance officer

Any vendor operating at real volume has one. If your point of contact is the sales AE and there's no compliance name to escalate to, the compliance function doesn't exist. That's a landmine.

What good looks like

Connexis is deliberately built to invert every one of these signals: sector-tuned IVR pre-qualification, sub-300ms buyer-match routing, signed payload delivery with replay endpoints, 24-month recording retention, and a compliance layer that regulators, buyers and internal QA all read from the same source.
